Bell - Gudgell

The Methodist church of Hillsdale was the scene of a very pretty wedding Sunday afternoon when Miss Vivian Bell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Bell, of near Hillsdale, become the bride of Lyle Gudgell, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Gudgell of Yorktown. The single ring ceremony was performed at three o'clock by the pastor, Rev. E. L. Fahnestock in the presence of relatives and friends. Baskets of gladioli and ferns, tastefully arranged, provided an attractive setting for the ceremony.

Miss Betty Pedersen of Tampico and Leslie Gudgell of Yorktown, brother of the groom, served as bridesmaid and best man. Nuptial music was played by Mrs. Fred Cole of Hillsdale.

The bride wore a becoming gown of wine colored velvet, street length, with black accessories. Her corsage was of gardenias and she wore a strand of pearls. The bridesmaid wore a dress of ice blue crepe  with black accessories and her shoulder corsage was of pink carnations.

Following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents for 17 guests after which the young couple left on a wedding trip and on their return will be at home in Thomas.

Mrs. Gudgell graduated from the Hillsdale Community high school with the class of 1938 and has been employed by the Tate Produce Co. in Hillsdale for some time. Mr. Gudgell, who graduated from the Tampico high school in 1938, has been employed as crane operator on his father's dredge since his graduation.
